To our Myo Pioneers,

We’ve had an incredible year here at Thalmic Labs and wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on what we’ve achieved with your support over the past year. With Myo, we were able to find ways to bring technology that used to cost thousands of dollars into an affordable product that we could put in your hands. From developing a whole new sensor from the ground up, to making constant advances in gesture recognition and software support, we’re on a path to changing the future of how we, as humans, interact with the digital world around us.

As you may recall, we began shipping the final hardware version of the Myo armband to Myo developers last July, and to end users in September. We can now officially say that we’ve shipped all purchased Myo pre-orders and made our product available for real-time sale on,, and We’ve also seen some incredible applications of our technology come to life, such as world-famous DJ Armin van Buuren using it on stage in front of millions of people around the world to control lights and stage effects during his performances.

We still have a long way to go. Our priorities have not changed since the day that we started developing this product: we want to deliver the best possible product to you, our early supporters. We now have over 100 applications and connectors available in the Myo Market with more being added each week, and we continue to improve the gesture recognition and software support for Myo every day. We’re always searching for developers to join our community and to help us improve the selection and quality of applications available to you. And we’re creating tools such as the Keyboard Mapper and scripting templates to enable you to build the exact experiences that you desire.

We would not be where we are today if it weren’t for you, and we will not go where we want to without your ongoing support. As we continue working hard to redefine the future of interacting with technology, we will be sure to keep you posted. We encourage you to tell us what you’d like to see as you continue on this journey with us.
